The kids have been begging for their Nooks, so today, their wishes came true! Yesterday, we discussed how to take care of our Nooks and how to use them safely and appropriately. We are so fortunate that each child has his/her own Nook to use at school this year. The class enjoyed familiarizing themselves with the apps and learning about the various features on the Nooks.
These little scientists LOVE animals! We are having a great time observing animals and learning about them. I was so happy to see the kids arrive Friday morning WITH THE LOST TOAD! Thankfully, it was never lost but went home with a student. Whew!
The good news is...Anderson brought a toad, so we spent the afternoon learning about frogs & toads. We had lots of fun listening to the sounds they make and researching interesting types of each (one of which was a sea toad whose babies hatch out of holes in the mother's back). The bad news is...during dismissal, the toad escaped in our classroom & is nowhere to be found. Uh oh! Today was our first, full day of school. We labeled notebooks, glued math "problems of the day" in our notebooks, made our first "favorites" journal entry, learned about millipedes/centipedes, & more! We spent some time getting to know each other better by having a summer snowball fight. Did you know that we have a friend who likes to sing in the shower? Another who has a bulldog? And someone else who likes to show off? |
