Team Orange Crush did so well at the Multiplication Olympics! I’d say we crushed ‘em! Whew! Preparing for the olympics is tough! Every day, we’ve been working out and doing a little conditioning. We’ve also been practicing our multiplication facts by playing “Last Kid Standing” and lots of other games. Here we are enjoying a little “May Day Play Day” outside. Wow! Thank you for helping these sweet kids share their love of Pie by helping them make pies. It was a special day that they’ll always remember! Let’s meet the bakers... Now I know where these kids get their creativity! Awesome job, parents, for decking our halls with encouraging posters! Your children were so excited, and I just know they’re going to do really well on Scantron/Global Scholar this week. Thank you for being their # 1 cheerleaders! And a happy birthday to this little love who gets to take tests on her special day!
First stop...Sloss Furnaces! If you haven’t been, it’s a beautiful place full of history! Next stop...Vulcan! The kids enjoyed rolling down grassy hills and learning a lot about our awesome city! The weather was perfect, and the kids were such good listeners! Our tour guides bragged on their great behavior.
The Final 2! Meet the “Elite 8” of 3rd grade! These lucky ducks get to play “Bump” this afternoon with the Hoover High girls’ State Champions!!!
Multiplication and Division are always more fun with cookies! Kindness week! Force and Motion research projects
The kids really enjoyed learning about area and perimeter using Minecraft! They each created their own farm using certain dimensions. We’ve also been working on perimeter and area math centers. Our sweet little mice have grown! This is their last week with us. They will be going to Ed’s Pet World to join new families! The kids have been hard at work creating house plans! They are using what they’ve learned about area and perimeter to make decisions such as what type of flooring they will buy and how much it will cost per room.
Yes, we had a guinea pig wedding today! Bagel and Wilma, the happy couple, are married! 2nd and 3rd grader’s attended the wedding. Wilma was rolled down the aisle in a wagon. She wore a beautiful veil! Bagel wore a top hat and waited patiently for his bride. Music was played and vows were read. We wish them the best! The baby mice are growing and changing daily! It’s amazing and so much fun to watch!
We are so lucky to have Dr. Richardson as our principal! He knows everyone in our class’ names. He came by today to visit and teach a short lesson about electricity (insulators and conductors). We experimented with circuits using a special electric ball.
Cuddles had another litter of babies (6 total)! This time, the class will get to watch them grow and develop. We are really excited!
Dr. Wade Northington (a retired veterinarian and friend) came to speak to the class about taking care of animals and careers dealing with animals. Meet Sparkle, one of our new guinea pigs!
