The kids sure do love these geckos! Thank you to everyone who offered to buy crickets to help feed them.
We had a wonderful first week of school! On Friday, the kids enjoyed some much deserved Free Friday Time. They loved playing with the geckos and hissing cockroaches. They also enjoyed building with magnetic blocks, playing with dominos, putting puzzles together, and writing on the board.
We are thrilled to announce that Deer Valley has its first STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) Lab! Mrs. Fehler is our STEAM Coach. One day a week for the first semester of school, our class will visit the STEAM lab. The kids had a blast today planning and creating their "Not a Box."
The AMSTI kits are in! In our first investigation, we dissected and analyzed bean pods. We discussed the properties of green beans and sugar snap peas. We created a class line plot based on how many peas each person found in their sugar snap pea pod.
I gave the kids a challenge today...to create the longest paper chain possible using one piece of construction paper, scissors, and glue. It was amazing to watch them work! The longest chain was 22 1/2 feet and was created by Tade Sims. |
